HOW TO MAKE YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS LAST

As soon as late December rolls around, my entire Bloglovin' feed is filled with ''New Year's Resolution'' and ''Things I Want To Change In 2017''.

And unless you're one of those lucky ultra-organised people (I envy you), I can hazard a guess that most of these goals are never fulfilled. I've been guilty in the past!

Undoubtedly, it feels incredible to be starting afresh, but as the year progresses we often lose sight of those goals. If you're dying to know how to make your resolutions stick, read on!

1) Set Achievable Goals

This may seem blatantly obvious, however it's important to keep it in mind. I'm not saying you shouldn't dream big (in fact, please do!), but when setting annual resolutions, make them realistic. Also, when it's likely you won't be able to achieve these goals in 12 months, it's also likely you'll feel disappointed in yourself, which is never positive.

2) Step Up

If your goal is to go to the gym 3 times a week, for 2 hours at a time - for example - then do it in gradual stages. Start off for the first few weeks going twice a week for 1 hour each time. Once you've got into routine, add on another day, and in the consecutive weeks, lengthen your sessions to 2 hours until you've nailed it!

3) Plan, Plan, Plan

As with any plan, your New Year's resolutions will benefit from a strategy of some sort. Instead of setting yourself a vague goal such as 'to become better at cooking', make stages, and smaller goals for you to achieve with the final goal being 'to become better at cooking'. This could be to put together specific dishes, such as a simple pasta sauce. As you climb up the ladder of milestones towards your final goal, you will feel more accomplished and motivated to succeed.

4) Keep Track

Every few months, I would recommend you sit back and take a look at what you've achieved over the past year. Write them down on a notepad, keep it in notes on your phone, make a spreadsheet - whatever works for you. Please remember, don't be too hard on yourself! If you haven't accomplished something that you said you would, don't get thrown off course. Re-evaluate, and switch up strategies if they aren't working for you.

Rounding up this post, I hope everyone had a safe NYE and are ready to go after their dreams! Thank you to everyone reading my not so lil' (anymore!) blog for the endless support!
